At WORKING CLASSICS, we believe in four things:

1. Everything we make must be highly functional. We don't make things to put on pedestals.

2. Everything we make must be pleasing to look at. We want these pieces to be good neighbors in your home.

3. Everything we make must be well made. We want our products to last long enough to become family heirlooms.

4. Everything we make must be small enough to ship via UPS. We hate shipping via common carrier.

WORKING CLASSICS is a collaboration between two Central New York woodworkers who met at the Rhinebeck Craft Fair in the mid - 1970's. They have more than 50 years of combined experience, and they both live in places you've never heard of.

Steve Mackintosh, the designer of all, and maker of some of these pieces, has been making furniture in Deansboro, NY since 1974.

Fred Bateman, in whose shop most of them are made, has also made toys, bird feeders and boats over the past 25 years. His shop is in McDonough, NY.
